James Profile for COER
James Is Serious About Food
James is such a foodie that when asked in an interview what he would like to say to himself one year from now, he said, “I hope you’ll tell me good restaurants.”
He Loves the Culture Contained in Food Too
As he said in the interview, CORTIS James likes food that contains the culture of its country, and he said he likes Nyurungji (not a typo, it’s Nyurungji) snacks. Nurungji is the crispy part of rice that is slightly scorched at the bottom of the pot in Korea. Orion made it into a snack called Nyurungji by sweetly roasting Korean rice. I personally like that it isn’t fried.
Seeing how many foods he mentioned in the video, you can guess how passionate a foodie he is, right? The CORTIS James favorite food list includes Japanese desserts, Japanese jelly, crème brûlée, cheesecake, Thai food, boba, and gyoza.
10 CORTIS James Favorite Food
1. Kimbap 김밥
What is CORTIS James favorite Korean food? He revealed while filming an ad for the hangover relief drink. It’s kimbap! He said the best part of Korean food is when many different ingredients come together in your mouth, and that’s why he likes kimbap.
2. Eomuk (Fish Cake) 어묵
The food James likes so much that he drinks the broth while walking around is fish cake. It’s called oden in Japan and eomuk in Korea. In Korea, people eat it as street food in winter or as a side dish (anju) to go with alcohol, and at home it’s also boiled into a soup to eat with rice.

3. Crème brûlée Pudding 크림 브륄레 푸딩
CORTIS James has said he likes Japanese desserts, and among them he especially likes pudding. Among puddings, he says he likes crème brûlée pudding the most. The pudding James is holding in a Japanese convenience store is Nameraka pudding, which costs 155 yen.
4. Tteokgalbi 떡갈비
James likes Korean tteokgalbi. Just as the US and Europe have meatballs, Korea also has a version: sweet and salty soy sauce-seasoned meatballs, flattened and pan-grilled. This is called tteokgalbi. Sometimes rice cake (tteok) is chopped and mixed in, but even without rice cake, glutinous rice flour and similar ingredients give it a chewy texture like rice cake, which is why it’s called tteokgalbi.

5. Pepperoni Pizza 페페로니 피자
If you look at photos of James eating something, it’s quite often pizza. And since there are so many pepperoni pizza photos in particular, he seems to love pepperoni pizza topped generously with salty ham. He also took a certification photo holding pepperoni pizza in New York.
6. Korean Fried Chicken 후라이드 치킨
Korean fried chicken, loved all over the world, is also loved by CORTIS James.

7. Ramyun-ttang 라면땅
CORTIS James favorite food has a lot of fried things. Do you know ramyun-ttang? It’s a Korean school food made by deep-frying ramen noodles until crispy and coating them with sugar, ramen seasoning powder, or a sweet and spicy gochujang sauce. It’s also popular as a side dish (anju) to eat with beer.

8. Korean BBQ Samgyeopsal 삼겹살
Like the other members, CORTIS James also loves Korean BBQ, which is loved by people all over the world. James likes samgyeopsal (pork belly), the most popular cut in Korea and you could say the root of original Korean BBQ. In fact, in Korea, chicken is not grilled as Korean BBQ. If that menu item is at a Korean BBQ restaurant, there is a more than 99 percent chance that the place is targeting tourists rather than being an authentic Korean BBQ restaurant.

9. Tteokguk 떡국
