Who Is CORTIS Martin? A Quick Introduction

Have you heard of Martin for the first time? Among all the CORTIS Martin facts, the most impressive thing about him is just how multi-talented he is. Martin is the leader of CORTIS, a 5-member boy group under Big Hit Music that debuted in August 2025. Born in 2008 to a Canadian father and a Korean mother, he is mixed. But since he grew up in Korea, Korean is actually the language he feels most comfortable in!

Even before his debut, he was already credited as a co-writer and co-composer on hit songs like TXT’s ‘Deja Vu’ and ILLIT’s ‘Magnetic’, a true artist with serious skills. And the fact that he sang the Korean national anthem at the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics opening ceremony? Every COER already knows that, right? 😄

2. Hawaiian Pizza

The debate that has divided the entire world, pineapple on pizza 😂 One of the things I was most surprised to find out from CORTIS Martin facts is that Martin actually loves Hawaiian pizza. Pineapple on pizza is something people feel incredibly strongly about all around the world, but Martin is a huge fan! The sweet and salty combo of pineapple might just be coming from his Korean DNA. We Koreans love sweet and salty combinations like bulgogi and tteokbokki. COER, are you a sweet and salty kind of person?

Here is another food that shows off his unique taste. Mint chocolate is one that simply cannot be left off the CORTIS Martin favorite food list. So many people absolutely hate mint chocolate, calling it “toothpaste flavor,” but Martin has made it clear that he genuinely loves it. In Korea, people who love mint chocolate are called “mincho-pa.” He is definitely mincho-pa. Either way, doesn’t his mint chocolate obsession alone tell you so much about his one-of-a-kind taste? haha

5. Kkobuk Chip Chocolate

His favorite snack you can find on the CORTIS Martin food list is none other than Kkobuk Chip chocolate flavor(Orion Turtle chips). It has layers and layers of crispy texture with a rich and sweet chocolate taste. Kkobuk Chip is personally my favorite Korean snack too. These days the flavors have gotten so wide, they even have a matcha chocolate flavor now. COER, if you ever visit Korea, trust me and trust Martin on this one, you have to try Kkobuk Chip!

6. Matcha

Surprisingly, there is something on the CORTIS Martin food list that is not sweet but bitter. Although, maybe he was thinking of Korean matcha latte when he said this. I was actually shocked when I tried matcha latte in Europe, it had zero sweetness, just pure bitterness. But every matcha latte in Korea is very sweet. Martin loves matcha desserts too, matcha ice cream, matcha cake… come to think of it, those are not bitter at all either. It all comes back to sweet in the end, haha.

7. Ansungtamyun

CORTIS Martin facts of Korean ramyun!Out of so many ramen brands out there, Martin specifically said he loves Ansungtamyun! I personally think he is probably not a big fan of spicy food — because Ansungtamyun is really not spicy at all, it is literally the ramen that Korean babies love. It is also one of the original Korean ramen brands.

🇰🇷 Korean Tip

rack an egg in and boil it together. Thinly slice some green onion on top at the end. Super delicious!

9. Chocolate Milk

One thing is now very clear from CORTIS Martin facts, he absolutely loves anything sweet. Martin has said that drinking chocolate milk after practice is a must for him. In Korea, people who love sweet things like this are called “aegi ipmat”, which basically means having a kid’s taste. Are you an aegi ipmat too?

10. Bungeoppang (Taiyaki)

Bungeoppang is a Korean winter snack, a fish-shaped bread filled with either red bean paste or sweet cream. And people are always divided into two sides: red bean or cream! Martin has firmly declared himself a red bean person. The soft and creamy filling is delicious too, but for Martin, the sweet and nutty flavor of red bean just hits differently. I have noticed that a lot of my European friends are not big fans of red bean. What about you?
