By adding sautéed onions for natural sweetness, along with mayonnaise, egg yolk, and cheese, it becomes less spicy than regular Buldak but much creamier, richer, and incredibly delicious. Right now, it’s one of the trendiest Buldak recipes in Korea, with many people recreating it and raving about how good it is.

How Spicy is Buldak Ramyun?
Buldak Ramen has a Scoville Heat Unit (SHU) rating of 4,400. If you’ve tried Shin Ramyun—one of Korea’s spiciest popular instant noodles—its SHU is 2,700, so you can imagine just how much spicier Buldak is. For those who truly love extreme heat, there’s the Haek Buldak Bokkeum Myeon (“Nuclear” Buldak), which comes in at a fiery 8,706 SHU.
On the other hand, the Carbonara Buldak, which is hugely popular in Europe and the U.S., is only 2,755 SHU, making it a great choice for those who can’t handle intense heat but still want to enjoy the Buldak flavor.

How to Make Buldak Noodles Less Spicy
Buldak ramyun is loved all over the world, but outside of Korea, many people aren’t used to very spicy food. Still, there are plenty who want to enjoy Buldak without the overwhelming heat. If that’s you, here are some useful tips.
- Milk – Add a little milk when cooking the noodles to mellow out the heat.
- Cream – Even more effective than milk for reducing spiciness.
- Cheese – Top your cooked Buldak noodles with mozzarella or sliced cheddar for a creamy, salty flavor that also makes it less spicy.
- Fried Egg – Adding a fried egg on top helps soften the heat.
- Pickled Radish (Danmuji) – In Korea, spicy dishes are often served with pickled radish at restaurants. Its refreshing sweetness soothes the burning sensation, so you can go back for another bite of Buldak.

Different Buldak Series
- Buldak Ramyun
The Buldak ramen line has gained huge popularity, expanding beyond the original flavor into many variations. Among the most famous are Carbonara Buldak, Buldak rose ramen, Cheese Buldak, while spice lovers go for Haek Buldak (“Nuclear” Buldak). There are also country-specific limited editions, such as Yakisoba Buldak in Japan, Habanero Lime Buldak in Mexico and curry buldak ramen.

- Beyond Ramyun
Buldak isn’t just about noodles. The brand offers a variety of products, including Buldak Jjaltteok (spicy chewy rice snack), Buldak Dumplings filled with the fiery seasoning, and even Buldak Fried Rice. If you’re a Buldak fan, it’s worth trying the whole series.
Different Buldak Recipes
In Korea, there are many creative dishes made with Buldak, especially using its signature sauce in various recipes. People make Buldak Bibimbap or Buldak Fried Rice, and here are two of the most popular Buldak-inspired recipes.
- Buldak Omelette: A dish gaining popularity as Malaysian street food. It’s made by wrapping Buldak ramyun, cheese, and sausage inside a soft, fluffy omelette. It’s easy to recreate at home.

- Buldak Cream Pasta: In Korea, Buldak sauce is used in fried rice and many other dishes, but Buldak cream pasta has become especially trendy among younger generations. There’s no need to cook the pasta separately—just add pasta, cheese, ham, and other ingredients directly to the pan with the sauce, simmer, and you’ll have a deliciously creamy Buldak pasta.
